Delilah was on the cover of Guidepost last September. I’ve always wondered what she looked like! She’s the one on the radio with the smoooooth voice who does all those mushy requests. Now, whenever someone has a sexy voice I just call them Delilah.
In our group of 4 women who make up Sisters in Christ, Dannel is definitely Delilah! Her voice is amazing–and she oesn’t even try! When she prays–it’s like “butta”!
The Guidepost Delilah has reminded me of the bible’s Delilah. That women was like the worst girlfriend ever! Read about it in Judges 16:4-22. Here are some highlights.
It says that Samson was in love with her. It doesn’t say one nice thing that she did for him! But she did some bad stuff! She basically handed him to his enemies on a silver platter. She kept trying to get Samson to tell her the secret of his strength! He messed with her 3 times until he finally told her the truth. Each time he messed with her she would nag him:
“You made fun of me and told me a lie!”
“How can you say you love me when you don’t confide in me?”
Let’s use these statements to make ourselves better girlfriends and wives!
It is such a good practice NOT to make fun of our spouses (especially in front of other people). Hold your tongue–you’ll be glad you did!
Sometimes we tell half truths (it’s for their own good, or, they’ll worry), but we really need to be completely truthful for the good of our relationships!
“You don’t confide in me!” Somehow I think that women would be saying that more than men! But it’s true. We do need to confide in each other. Don’t worry–they’ll confide in you when it’s something REALLY important! Practice being a good listener and you’ll always be ready when they are!
Have a blessed day!
Jean
