How do we not go through life scared half the time!? I’ve been scared of people getting hurt my whole life! Kind of crazy that I’m a nurse! I can remember doing the 100 yard dash in elementary school, trying to get that Presidential award! We ran on the blacktop playground as fast as we could and the finish line was a chain link fence! Nothing like a quick stop! I remember thinking, “someone is going to get hurt!” When I had young kids there were a myriad of dangers for them, especially those tippy toddler years. We went camping once when my youngest was just learning to walk and the poor guy was going down right and left on roots, stumps, rocks, etc.. I’m sure he was thinking, “guys, couldn’t you have waited a few months?”. These days my kids are older and there are different concerns. Last Saturday I was driving home on Rt. 472 and a car passed me in a no passing zone and I thought to myself the familiar, “someone’s going to get hurt…”. In the next moment, my son drove by me going the other way. My heart leapt in fear when I realized a few seconds different and they could have crashed head on into each other. I just had to thank my God. I pulled into the driveway and my husband is on the roof powerwashing the side of the house! Things are slippery when they are wet, you know! “Be careful”, I say. I was scared till he got off the roof. How do we get through life not being scared all the time?
Jean.
